I’ve been made a job offer! What do I do next?
Pop the “fizzy stuff” on ice for a moment as you need to consider how you approach this important subject. Below you’ll find a few tips you may want to consider to help you deliver the best outcome.
Be prepared for the “offer” call! Listen to the detail, give a warm reply and ask when they’d like to have a response by.
Examine the written offer. Review the offer in its entirety, including perks, benefits, holidays etc. Remember to check if the salary falls in line with the market.
If the offer falls below your expectations, you may want to negotiate. If on a call or by email, start and end on a high, express your enthusiasm for the role followed up with your counteroffer, providing research and any additional value add you can bring to support it.
Follow up the offer! Once you’ve accepted the offer, why not make a call/send an email to your new Line Manager and HR expressing your excitement for the role and company.
All in good time! Take a moment to decide when’s the right time to update your social media network.
If it’s not for you! Take the time to decline a job offer as graciously as you would an acceptance. No need to burn any bridges!
